My Professional Background
From a young age, I knew that my calling was in the mental health field, inspired by witnessing family members grapple with mental illness without seeking help due to stigma. Determined to reduce shame and normalize the importance of mental and emotional well-being, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from California State University, Fullerton.
During my studies, I volunteered at a resource center for individuals struggling with bipolar disorder and at a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center in Tijuana, Mexico. These experiences deepened my passion for helping others and connecting with diverse populations.
After graduation, I became a behavioral therapist, working with children and their families to manage behavioral concerns and address symptoms related to depression and anxiety. Following my calling, I earned a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University in San Diego, focusing on understanding cultural backgrounds and various stressors impacting mental health.
Throughout my journey, I completed an internship in a public mental health setting, supporting children, youth, teens, and families facing severe mental health symptomology and traumatic experiences. Now, as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Chula Vista, California, I specialize in healing trauma using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), currently pursuing certification and am a Level 1 IFS Therapy provider.
I have additional training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
Together, we'll embark on a journey towards transformation and empowerment.
